Above in the top row, from L-to-R are B-western heavy/henchman Tex Terry, Pat Starling, William Boyd and Bob Nolan.  Bottom row from L-to-R are Roy Rogers, a mystery lady named "Mrs. Peters", and Spade Cooley. Patricia/Pat Starling did a few westerns, including a Jimmy Wakely and four of Sunset Carson's later films which were NOT at Republic Pictures. This photo is from the 'Western Hall of Fame Hoss Opera' at the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles on November 28, 1948. It was organized by Tim Spencer (Sons of the Pioneers) and singer/song writer Cindy Walker ("You Don't Know Me" and more, including nearly all of the Bob Wills songs in the Russ Hayden films).

October, 2011: Joe Hyatte is the owner of the Rock Run Cafe and Bakery in Parke County Indiana (formally owned by movie badman/henchman Tex Terry who called it "Tex's Longhorn Restaurant"). Tex had sold the restaurant to Joe's parents, and the property included a bunch of movie memorabilia as Tex had saved just about everything from movie days. "Mrs. Peters" was Dorothy Peters and she was married to Tex before he married his agent Isabel Drasemer.

Above is the pressbook cover for SQUARE DANCE JUBILEE (Lippert, 1949). Though the film starred Don 'Red' Barry and the blonde-tressed Mary Beth Hughes (shown upper right corner), it featured Spade Cooley and his western swing band, Cowboy Copas, the Tumbleweed Tumblers, more.  The producer was Ron Ormond who also did the 'Western Adventures Productions' with Lash LaRue in the late 1940s.  The film was a 'Donald Barry Production' and released through Lippert Pictures. The storyline has talent agents Don Barry and pal Wally Vernon running into cattle rustlers while searching for performers to appear on Cooley's TV show.

Above is a blowup of the bottom right corner of the SQUARE DANCE JUBILEE pressbook showing Cooley and his larger band (with four saxophones, three trumpets and a trombone). The gal is vocalist Virginia 'Ginny' Jackson.

Kevin Coffey was able to identify the band members:

Four sidemen in the right side of the image in the back row - L-to-R are trumpet players Joe Ciffelli, Art Atwell and Freddie Thompson; then trombonist Billy Wright (who doubled on fiddle).

In the leftside grouping are Freddie Haynes, piano; Stan Puls, bass; Les Anderson, steel guitar; Muddy Berry, drums. Then L-to-R are Wally Ruth, sax; Gus Ehrman, sax; Lon Doty, sax (also doubled on fiddle). Hidden behind Cooley or Ginny Jackson is saxophonist Bob Riedel.
